Tasting Notes

Brora 1977 | 45 Year Old | 48.2% ABV

Fragrant candle wax, light mineral aromas, a hint of sweet toffee. Smoothly waxy: sweet, with light saltiness and smokiness, becoming spicier, with cayenne pepper.

Clynelish 1996 | 26 Year Old | 52% ABV

Pedro Ximenez/Oloroso-seasoned butts match crisp charm with more powerful taste. Surprisingly sweet and apple-fruity, then drying and soon chilli pepper spicy.

Lagavulin 1997 | 25 Year Old | 50.7% ABV

Medicinal and smoky bonfire aromas. Hints of camphor and linseed oil, with fragrant bergamot and salt crystals. Lightly oily, sweet and spicy, with salt and pungent smoke.

Talisker 1976 | 46 Year Old | 50.9% ABV

Fragrant, lightly oily notes, a salty sea breeze and sweet toffee. Ultra-smooth and oily: sweet to start, with saltiness, white pepper, subtle smoke and a peppery kick.

Port Ellen 1978 | 43 Year Old | 53.4% ABV

Lightly drying nose; wood ash, rock salt, seaweed float and coal smoke. In time, sweeter. Smoothly oily: sweet, then salty, finishing long with pepper and fragrant smoke.

Pittyvaich 1992 | 30 Year Old | 55.5% ABV

Pedro Ximenez/Oloroso-seasoned butts; rich character, fruity-spicy aromas and depth of taste. Deep colour, creamy-smooth: lightly sweet with a pinch of salt, warmly spicy.

Oban 1996 | 26 Year Old | 55.2% ABV

European Oak butts, rarely used at Oban, yield a deep amber whisky. Light sea salt and seaweed aromas: smooth, lightly sweet, salty and spicy. Long, peppery finish.

The Singleton 1985 | 37 Year Old | 47.7% ABV

Mellow, fruity notes of ripe melon and baked apple on buttery pastry. Lightly oily, smooth: a hint of salt balances light mid-palate sweetness. Elegantly drying finish.
